The ground color of the flag is sky blue, signifying truth; the silver fringe around it represents purity; the torch at the top of the pole symbolizes culture; the cross of the university emblem embroidered in the center is gold and the TG is silver, symbolizing the spirit of sacrifice. The TG emblem was designed by Mr. Seiichi Koizumi, a newly appointed drawing and painting teacher, in accordance with the idea of President Schnader, who urged the establishment of the emblem in 1901, and shows the initials TG of Tohoku Gakuin in a cross.
