Located in Niigata City Niigata Prefecture and established in 1977. The Embroidered ceremonial flag has navy blue background with a gold and silver emblem in gold fringe. The university flag has purplish blue background with a white emblem. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the university's founding in 1987, the second president, Kikuo Asahina, commissioned Magoichi Kushida (poet, philosopher, and essayist) to write the school song and design the school emblem and flag to more strongly reflect the university's distinctive specialized higher education functions and community-oriented spirit The university emblem was established with a motif of a "snowflake" symbolizing the nature of Niigata and a "benzene ring" representing the university's expertise.

The logo mark flags has white background with a red logo mark without university name. In 2012, the 35th anniversary of the university's opening, they adopted this logo mark, which represents the abbreviation "NUPALS," the English name of the university, Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, using DNA, the source of life, as a motif, with the intention of moving forward with a new focus on the origin of the university.
