Presentation of Kraljevica

The Town of Kraljevica is located at the south edge of Bakar Bay in eastern part of Kvarner, near the point where the island of Krk is closest to the coast. The town is located at a very good natural harbor. It was settled in the 15th century and at first named Portorium, meaning the "customs place", later corrupted to "Porto Re" - in Italian, "Royal port". The Croatian name, Kraljevica, has been used since the early 17th century. The roads from inland reach the coast at this point, and in mid 18th century a military shipyard was built here. In the 1993 administrative reform, Kraljevica lost its Town status, which was regained in 1997.

Flag of Kraljevica

The symbols of Kraljevica (excluding the ceremonial flag) are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi, adopted on 4 November 1997 by the Town Assembly but not published in any official gazette. The amended Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Kraljevice (pročišćeni tekst), adopted on 28 August 1998 by the Town Assembly, was published on 11 September 1998 in the County official gazette Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije No. 18.
The current Town Statutes Statut Grada Kraljevice, adopted on 16 July 2009 by the Town Assembly and published on 25 July 2009 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 29, describe the coat of arms, the flag and the ceremonial flag in Articles 4-6.

The sybmols were approved by the central authorities on 27 July 1998.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Azure, an anchor or ensigned by a crown". The coat of arms is canting, referring to the town's name. The coat of arms is already mentioned in pre-First World War sources, so it must have been granted by Austrian emperors.
The crown is described in the Decision as a crown with three cinquefoil leaves and two trefoil inter-leaves. The height of the coat of arms in the flag is prescribed to be 2/3 of the flag's hoist, with a yellow border around it.

Ceremonial flag of Kraljevica

The ceremonial flag, as usual in coastal region of Croatia, is a vertical gonfanon-type flag with three rectangular tails, blue, ornamented with golden embroidery, with the coat of arms in the middle and the name of the town in arch above it. The part with name is missing from my source (the 1999 version of the municipal website), so that part is reconstructed, based on customs in other such flags. The wreath around the coat of arms is made of two fig branches.
