Schönau Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a sinister facing demi-unicorn issuant Sable, at sinister Azure five 5-point stars Or in irregular quincunx.
Meaning:
The unicorn is taken from the arms of the Perkofer family. The kin played an important role in the 15th and 16th century as owner of the local district (Bavarian: Hofmark). The unicorn is displayed e.g. on the seal of the kin from 1438 and on the epitaph of the tombstone of Magdalena Lengfelder from 1498 in the Church dedicated to the Holy Spirit in Eggenfelden. The stars are taken from the arms of the Riederer kin fom Paar, who owned the castle of Schönau since 1671.
