Coat of arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows a red heraldic rose seeded golden(=yellow) and barbed black beneath a red cross moline in a silver(=white) field. The sinister side shows an upright silver(=white) key in a blue field.
Meaning:
According to source the cross is symbolizing the counts of Pyrmont. It is said that they had established the city. The rose symbolizes the location of the city in nowadays Lipppe county. The key is symbolizing the archbishopric of Köln. The counts of Pyrmont had to cede half of the city to the archbishops in 1255. The colour blue probably had been chosen in order to give reverence to former municipality of Rischenau, its arms had a blue field.
