Klettbach Coat of Arms

Shield Gules parted by a bend sinister wavy Argent, in sinister chief charged with two burdocks Vert in bend sinister, on dexter chief a windmill Argent, on sinister base a 6-spokes wheel Argent.
Meaning:
The wheel is referring to the Archbishops of Mainz, to whome one half of the village belonged. The other half was owned by the Dukes of Sachsen-Weimar. The windmill is a representation of the local post mill of Doberstedt. A smaller windmill had been there since 1810. But the mill turned insufficient at the beginning of the 20th century. Thus the bigger mill from Esperstedt, built in 1743, was transported by rail to Doberstedt in 1909. The mill produced flour for the local peole until 1961. The bend sinister wavy is representing the name giving creek (German: Bach). Together with the burdocks (German: Kletten) the example is canting.

Kranichfeld Coat of Arms

Targe Argent with base Vert, at sinister a crane vigilant Or holding a stone Maron, at dexter a number Sable "1650", issuant from dexter chief out of a cloud Azure an arm in bend dressed Gules and holding a palm frond Vert.
Meaning:
The village was first mentioned in 1143. The pattern changed frequently. At least since 1925 until 1984 or earlier the crane with stone was displayed alone in the posture vigilant reguardant. The colour of the bird was yellow, sometimes with black tails. The crane (German: Kranich) is a canting element. The current arms are based on a local seal from 1650, which displayed the current pattern with a circumscription "INSIGEL DES NEUEN STÄDTLEINS KRANICHFELD IM FRIEDENSIAHR VON DER HERRSCHAFT ERTHEILT 1650" (English: secret seal of the new little town Kranichfeld in the year of peace by the rulers (in) 1650). The arms are also based on the family arms of the Counts of Kranichfeld, local rulers until 1380. The counts belonged to a branch line of the Counts of Käfernburg-Schwarzburg, who parted their possessions in 1172. The bigger part was inherited in 1380 by the Burgraves of Kirchberg, since 1398 as vassals of the Wettin kin. This part was acquired by the Reußen kin in 1453 and was part of various Saxonian principalities between 1615 and 1920. The smaller part was ruled by the Counts of Schwarzburg as vassals of the Archbishopric of Mainz. It became a possession of Preußen in 1803, of Sachsen-Weimar in 1815 and finally of Sachsen-Meiningen in 1912.
