Obergriesbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per chevron embowed, above Gules a stepped gable Argent, beneath Sable an abased bar wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The gable is taken from the seal of the Lords of Griesbach, who ruled Obergriesbach as a fiefdom of the Biburg Monastery until 1293. The monastery kept the villages as centre of a district (Bavarian: Hofmark) until 1468 and then sold it to the Lords of Weichs, who had been commssionaires of the Teutonic Order. They kept the district until 1730. The embowed chevron is taken from their family arms. The bar wavy is representing the Paar River.
