Description of the Flag

The flag and arms of Palmeira are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 28 promulgated on 5 September 1997.

Article 2.
The flag of the municipality shall have the following dimensions: Four rectangles, two white and two green, each 64 cm x 45 cm, arranged alternately, with the coat of arms in the center. Green represents the palm tree ["palmeira"] while white represents liberty and peace.
On the rectangles in base of the flag is inscribed "1995 - NASCE UMA NOVA ERA - PALMEIRA" [A new era was born].

Article 3.
The coat of arms is composed of an oval figure, of 37 cm in width on 22 cm in length, in light blue, white, green and brown colors, with the following meaning: a rising bird, emphasizing the emergence of a new era; stars, representing the Brazilian states; on the right and left of the oval figure, leaves of palm, the municipality's namesake.
