The municipality of Nova Prata de Iguaçu (10,733 inhabitants in 2016; 35,257 ha)
is located 500 km west of Curitiba.
The flag and arms of Nova Prata de
Iguaçu are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 208 promulgated on 24 August 1989.
Article 2.
The flag of the municipality of Nova Prata do Iguaçu shall be
rectangular in proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length, pursuant to
Article 5 of Federal Law No. 5,700 promulgated on 12 October 1971, with the
following characteristics.
a) The flag is composed of three vertical stripes,
green and white, in the following proportions. The green stripes are 6 units in
length, and the white stripe, in the center, 8 units.
b) In the center of the
flag, on the white stripe is applied the coat of arms of the municipality.
Article 5.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Nova Prata do Iguaçu
is composed of a Samnite shield divided into two equal fields, as follows.
a)
The shield is surmounted by a four-towered mural crown argent, with gates sable,
only three of them visible. The mural crown represents the authority of the
municipality of Nova Prata do Iguaçu.
b) The upper field of the shield,
celestial blue, corresponds to the chief, that is, to the place named Nova Prata
do Iguaçu. The rising sun shines on it, yellow, representing the Brazilian man
and the strength of the people of Nova Prata do Iguaçu, who are renewed every
dawn, in search of solutions for the progress of the municipality.
c) The
lower field of the shield, green, symbolizes the municipality's arable lands,
represented in level curves, irrigated by river Iguaçu represented by a black
wavy stripe with blue waves.
d) On the right side of the shield there is a
maize plant and, on the left side, a soybean plant, both fructed proper,
representing the main agricultural resources of the municipality.
e) The blue
scroll is inscribed in silver "27.12.79 - NOVA PRATA DO IGUAÇU - 01.02.83",
which means, respectively, the creation date, the toponym and the inauguration
date.
Blue is the color of the firmament. It symbolizes justice, truth,
loyalty, and beauty.
Green denotes faith. It symbolizes hope, freedom, and
strength.
Yellow is the image of maturity of judgment. It symbolizes
nobleness, magnitude, wealth.
White is pure light. It symbolizes integrity,
obedience, vigilance, peace, and order.
Black belongs to the domain of
intelligence. It symbolizes prudence, vigor, and honesty.
