The ensign (see left image above) was a black-white-red horizontal tricolour like the German merchant ensign until 1918. The burgee (see right image above) was red parted by a white saltire, charged in its centre by a black disc. The club has nothing to do with Hamburger Yacht-Club, which was established much later in 1961.

According to §3 of its statutes the community has exclusively non-profit purposes, especially the promotion of sailing and motor yachting. Furthermore it is maintaining and supplying a harbour as mooring place for the vessels of all its members (yacht clubs). Gains are exclusively used for the above mentioned non-profit purposes and the members get neither shares nor benefits
The community has a rectangular pennant. Its pattern is the same as that one of the historical pennant (Flüüger) model 1500.

The problem is, that there exist different versions of that flag. On the car-sticker version the black roundel is just touching the black lines of cross-fimbriation. On the wall of clubs boathouse is an image, in which the roundel exceeds the crossbars. This one is the version of the flag, hoisted upon the boat house at the banks of Alster lake.
