The flag

The Vermont Department of Corrections is responsible for overseeing the state of Vermont's prisons and other correctional institutions. According to the department's website and mission statement, the Department of Corrections provides "leadership in crime prevention, repairing the harm done, addressing the needs of crime victims, ensuring offender accountability for criminal acts, and managing the risk posed by offenders." (www.doc.state.vt.us/about/vision/)

Based on photographs found online (4.bp.blogspot.com/_CG26_A9FdBA/S8dvCKZSsUI/AAAAAAAAE80/AUQmW6xzjkU/s1600/DSC01101.JPG
and theacademyupdate.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html)), the department's flag is a defaced version of the Vermont state flag. Above the Vermont state seal are the words "STATE OF VERMONT" in yellow sans serif letters slightly arched. Below the state seal are the words "Department of Corrections" in more yellow sans serif letters. The flag can be with or without a gold fringe.
