Morristown has officially chosen a new flag that celebrates the town's history after the winning banner was announced, fittingly, just in time for Flag Day. Max Bellamente, a senior at Morristown High School who proposed the idea for a flag contest, unfurled the "Two Winters" design at Tuesday's Town Council meeting. The name is an homage to the pair of winter encampments established in Morristown by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

The flag's design, which featured contributions from Morristown residents Juan Mazo, Jeff Smyth, Nyah Brantley, and Ainsley Avers, includes a half-red, half-white background with two stars flanking a silhouette of Washington in a blue center circle. The colors, Bellamente said, represent "Morristown's fundamental role in the founding of our nation."
