The municipality of Sungurlu (49,211 inhabitants in 2016, 31,204 in the town of Sungurlu) is located 80 km south-west of Çorum.

Flag of Sungurlu

The flag of Sungurlu (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality".
The emblem features the two emblematic monuments of the town, the Ergülü Baba Mosque and the Clock Tower.

The mosque (photo) was built by Ergülü Baba in 1530, The minaret, of round section, is made of cut stone. Restored in 1999 by the General Directorate of Foundations, the mosque is quite far from its original condition.
The clock tower (photos) was built in 1891 by Kaymakam Edip Bey. There are small windows with round arches on each floor except the second floor. On the top floor of the building made of cut stone, there is a wooden pavilion with wavy border, a round clock dial in four directions under it and a balcony with iron bars at the bottom.
