TEV was established on 4 May 1967 by Vehbi Koç (1901-1996, founder of the Koç
Holding and once one of Turkey's wealthiest citizens; biography).
The goals of TEV are to "provide scholarships to students who are
successful but in need of financial help; support the educational system
by constructing schools, dormitories, educational institutions, and
libraries; give awards to promote students’ works; and carry out
scientific research in the field of education."
