The arms are Argent a castle Gules masoned Sable with port and windows Sable, in chief an almond-shaped inescutcheon Azure semy of plates between two crescents pointing downwards and in base a brick hammer Azure set in pale on two fishhooks Sable set in saltire. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CASTELO - SESIMBRA"
Meaning:
The arms show a canting element, the castle, and references to local industry and history - the chief area symbolizes the conquest of the town to the Moors in 1165.

Presentation of Castelo

Castelo Commune is one of the three communes of the Sesimbra municipality (q.v.). This commune had 15 207 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 178,77 km².
