Coat of arms

Vert a bar wavy Argent charged with two barrulets wavy Azure and on a pall over all Argent a fleur-de-lis Azure, in chief a cork oak twig Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading "MONTARGIL" in black upper case letters.
The arms refer to the local cork oak woods and probably the local road and river dam topography; no idea about the fleur-de-lis.
António Martins-Tuválkin and Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 10 Oct 2010

Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República: III Série on 16 January 1996
