About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain purple field .

The arms are Argent over a base wavy of Azure and Argent,two grapes Vert fruited Purpure and a melon Vert, all "well ordered"( i.e. 2:1), above all in central chief an inescutcheon Azure charged with 11 bezants Argent ordered 3:2:3:2:1 (Portugal Ancient). Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "FREGUESIA DE ALMEIRIM" in black upper case letters.

Almeirim is one of four communes of Almeirim Municipality, it had 12 812 inhabitants in 2011 covering 69,13 km².
