It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent, a pillory Or, flanked in base by two garlands Proper of lemons, oranges and grapes, in dexter chief a crescent recumbent Gules, in sinister chief an inescutcheon Azure parted by a Cistercian bend flanked by two fleur-de-lis Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VILA DE ALFEIZERÃO".
Meaning:
The inescutcheon is referring to the Cistercian Monastery of St. Mary of Alcobaça, former owner of many domains in the municipality. The chequered band is symbolizing the Cistercians and the fleur-de-lis is an attribute of St. Mary.
