A large Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flag briefly covered a portion of the walls surrounding Jerusalem's Old City on 1 Jan 2020, prompting an outcry over the Palestinians' attempt to undermine Israel's sovereignty in the capital. The flag also included images of the late PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat and Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas. (While this flag was touted as that of the PLO, the central logo image appears to that of Fatah -- which supports Abbas.)

Shabab al-Wahda (Young Women Unity) PLO flag variation

[YWU flag] image located by William Garrison, 14 November 2023

A "Shabab al-Wahda" or "Young Women Unity" Palestine flag with two stars and perhaps two-line slogans reading "Shabab al-Wahda" ("Young Women Unity") [or or roughly: "teenage girls"] and "al-Taghir" ("change"), allegedly used by the PLO in Eastern Jerusalem at the "Khalil Sakakini" public middle-school for Arab girls -- which is located near Herod's Gate on the north face of the Old City walls (which might explain why this flag was photographed atop a wire-mesh-topped wall); c. May 2014.
