Coat of Arms

[COA of Etnedal] image by Tomislav Šipek, 19 November 2015

Blazon: På blå grunn ei gull kvelvingsbru. In English: Azure an arched bridge or.
Approved by the royal resolution of 14 July 1989, after an idea by Ivar Aars (although if the actual drawing is his it not clear from the text at http://www.etnedal.kommune.no/etnedal/kommunevapenet/)
The design represent the Lunde bridge, a stone bridge form 1820's. Bridge is also canting for Bruflat, the municipal centre. It also reminds that the old royal road from Oslo to Bergen went through the municipality, and is partially preserved. But it is also said that Etnedal links together regions of Valdres and Land, as a bridge between them. (so from http://www.etnedal.kommune.no/etnedal/kommunevapenet/)
