Blazon: I blått to sølv tømmerhakejern skrått oppad. In English: Azure two logging hooks palewise in bend sinsitre.
Approved by the royal resolution of 16 April 1982 after a drawing by Truls Nygaard after a proposal by Rolf Nesset. [c2j87]
The logging hooks are tools for steering trunks in a water way as Marker is a forestry region. The two hooks also stand for the tow municipal parts, Rødenes and Øymark, that are "drawn together".
[c2j87] that is copied at http://www.marker.kommune.no/kommunevaapen.260762.no.html also notes that these hooks were thus introduced among the heraldic charges as a new motif, since they are simple and unique in form.
