"Leeuwarder Courant", 29 January 2013

Queen of the Netherlands Beatrix will abdicate on 30 April 2013 (Queen's Day) in favour of her eldest son Willem-Alexander.

The "Dokkumer Vlaggencentrale" (DVC) has designed a special flag for the investiture. The flag is horizontally divided orange-red-white-blue-orange. In the middle is placed a blue shield surmounted by a white crown and charged with the writing:

BEATRIX (white)
___ (orange)
WILLEM (white)
ALEXANDER (white, smaller letters)
30 04 2013 (orange)

The shield is placed over a white ribbon. The shield is supported by the profile silhouettes of Beatrix (dexter, looking towards the hoist) and Willem-Alexander (sinister, looking towards the fly). The two silhouettes merge with the upper and lower orange stripes of the flag.
