The council informed me they did not find any registry of information regarding the Municipal Coat of Arms inside their archive. The coat of arms is a shield, with a ribbon under it reading 1643, the year of its foundation. The shield is split into two halves; the left side is representative of mining, having sulfur over a crossed pick and shovel, since the Municipality historically had sulfur mining as an important industry particularly in Guaxcama. The right side depicts its hills in the background and a field with many corn plants in front of it. In front is a wheelbarrow filled with coal, also on a mound of coal, a direct representation of its name as "Santa Gertrudis de Carbonera", carbonera meaning "place of coal". At the top of the inner section is its old name, "SANTA GERTRUDIS DE LA CARBONERA", which was changed in 1928. Under it is its current name, "VILLA JUAREZ".
