Coat of Arms

image from cefimslp.gob.mx

The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted in the 1997-2000 term under Municipal President Aurelio Tenorio Quintero. It was designed by a young person from the community of Illescas, named Marlem Rodríguez Escobedo. It was adopted through a call for submissions from the council, presented during the regional fair of the Municipality in August 1998. The shield has a scrolled border in brown, with a square in the center depicting a 3D map of the state of San Luis Potosí. The contour of the municipality is highlighted, with rays presenting, on a 3D rectangle, the highway that goes through this desert as well as its flora, two cacti; to the right a cow is also visible for the cattle-raising industry. To the left, there are bales for agriculture.
