The council informed me they do not use a municipal flag.

The director of culture informed me the coat of arms was designed by someone who was asked by the municipal government to do so, but they have no further information on its history. Above the shield is a red ribbon
which reads "COXCATLAN". Its border is blue and reads "Ayotoxcuetlatlan" at the bottom, its old name. It also depicts many heads and tails of tilapia fish on the edges; at the top are two crawfish, as the people of the town are known as mojarreros or cozoleros, which mean the same. The shield is divided into three sections, one at the top and two on the sides, by two arroyos that form a "Y" shape: one is from the El Zapote ranch and the other from Ajuatitla. Above it has foliage, as the area is very green. The upper section depicts the Cerro del Alcuanco, meaning "high hill with a hole and lagoon water". In front of this, the San Juan Bautista church is depicted, founded by the Spaniards. The left side depicts a laborer with a basket of oranges, as Coxcatlán is also known for its oranges; sugarcane is seen above which is used for the creation of piloncillo, although not on a large scale but still common here. The right side depicts a cob of corn, basic aliment of the people, and a pool of water known as El Zocote, where many people bathe.
