from Facebook

According to the book Tarandacuao Historia de un Pueblo Michoacano-Guanajuatense, the coat of arms was adopted in 1957 and designed by Secretary of the Council Prof. Odilón García Chávez, possibly as part of his duties. According to Article 5 of the Municipal Policy of Police and Good Government:

This is divided into four sections, at the top to left it shows the watering hole and the Lerma River [also trees beside it], signifying the natural wealth of the place, at the top to the right it shows our mountains that go around this valley and its temperate climate [and the sun], at the bottom to the right it shows the traditional crops in the Municipality that symbolize the agricultural wealth and at the bottom to the left shows a book over a table. signifying the study, education, and history of the Municipality, under the shield it shows a ribbon with the date of foundation of the town of Santiago Tarandácuaro, 27 April 1612 [in Roman numerals; also above it there is a flower in shape in the National Colors].
