Flag

Located in Hachioji City Tokyo and established in 1949. The university flag has purple background with a yellow emblem, yellow border and yellow kanji university name horizontally written. The ceremonial flag is also purple with a gold university emblem in the center; the university name is written in gold on the hoist. When Junichiro Shimoyama, the first president of the university's predecessor, a private pharmaceutical school, went to Germany to study Western pharmacy in the 1890s the president of the university there gave him the Latin phrase "Flore Pharmacia ! (Flower! Bloom! Pharmacy!) in the hope that Western pharmacy would take root and flourish in Japan. This clause "Flore Pharmacia ! is said to have been used as the school emblem in Fph !
