Located in Suginami City Tokyo and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a gold and silver emblem in gold fringe. The university flag has blue background with a white emblem in the center. The motif and symbolic prototype of the university emblem of Joshibi is the mirror of Yata .This emblem was designed by the first principal, Ms. Bunzo Fujita. The kanji character 美 for "beauty" is laid out in the motif of a mirror, which is enshrined in the Inner Shrine of Ise Shrine as the sacred body of Amaterasu. Mirrors promote self-reflection as they reflect one's own image and conduct. Since a mirror means a model, the Mirror of Yata of Joshibi expresses the hope that students will grow up to be sincere women who will not forget the spirit of beauty, train themselves, and set a good example for others.
