The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Mar 3rd 2009 by Notice No 27. The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 和光 Wako. It symbolizes a concord and a solidarity of the citizen and a nature of the city which is bright, rich and comfortable. As a whole,It represents an image of the city which launchs into  and developes. The flag proportion is 2:3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 of the height of the flag.
