The Royal Jordanian Air Force was officially established on July 19, 1951 originally denominated "سلاح جو الجيش العربي" (English: Arab Army Air Force) (notice that in English sources this is referred to as Arab Legion Air Force, ALAF). On September 25, 1955 the "سلاح الجو الملكي الأردني" (English: Royal Jordanian Air Force) was established by Royal Decree introducing a new design in its Coat of Arms (which already featured the roundel) incorporating the Royal Crown.

Air Force Roundel and Fin Flash

[Air Force (Jordan)]   [Air Force (Jordan)] image by Nozomi Kariyasu, 17 June 2024

The Jordani aircraft marking is a black-white-green roundel with a red sector (about 60 degrees) in top containing the seven-pointed star. A note in [Album des Pavillons 2000 explains that the national flag is painted on the fin, with the hoist side towards the front. The data in [Cochrane and Elliott 1998 matches with [Album des Pavillons 2000, and also claims that these emblems were used in 1949 when the Arab Legion Air Force, later Royal Jordani Air Force, was established and have not been changed since.
Željko Heimer, 05 Mar 2002

The RJAF (Al Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Malakiya al-Urduniya) was formed in 1949 and used the roundel and fin flash ever since.
The roundel is "classic" green-white-black, with a red triangle at the top (whose base curves to follow the edge of the roundel and which occupies 1/4 of the total area), charged with "Jordanian" star. National flag used as fin flash. See photo.

Air Force Flag with Roundel

[Air Force (Jordan)] 1:2 image by Zoltan Horvath, 17 June 2024

In [Pedersen 1980 there are several air force flags with roundels. All have the same pattern; light blue, the national flag in the canton, the air force roundel in the fly. One of them is Jordan.

The roundel on the [Pedersen 1980 flag is wrong.
