Description of the flag

The flag of Indonesian Scouting Organisation, PRAMUKA, uses the symbol of a coconut tree ... a tree of which all parts are very useful for Indonesian people's every day life. It symbolizes the philosophy of a true Scout, who must make him/her self useful in all aspect of life. The flag is the official flag of the organisation throughout the country.
Rex Maidepa, 5 September 1998

The red stripe on the hoist serves as the base for adding the name of the Indonesian scout's units. So, when the flag is assigned to a particular unit, there will be the name/number of the unit on the red vertical stripe.

. The emblem on the center of the flag is a coconut seed. It represents the growing spirit, physical toughness, adaptability, and high aspiration of the scout member. So far, there's no explanation of the meaning of the two horizontal red stripes on the flag.
Sammy Kanadi, 24 August 2000

The coconut seed emblem was adopted on 31 January 1972 but I am not certain when the flag was adopted. However, this document has the specifications for the flag and what sizes are needed. The sizes are as follows:

National : 200 cm X 300 cm
Area : 150 cm X 225 cm
Branch : 90 cm X 135 cm
Troop and smaller units : 60 cm X 90 cm
