The flag of Kanfanar, as communicated in 1997 by the Cosmos company, is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms is "Azure St. Sophia stantant clad gules and haloed or holding in each hand a fortified town of the last windowed of the second".
St. Sophia, the town's patron saint, holds two towns remembering the nearby ruined town of Dvigrad (lit., "Double Town") from which the modern town developed.

Kanfanar adopted, probably around 1995, a set of symbols slightly different from the current set, which was adopted, probably around 1997.
The coat of arms had the saint depicted slightly differently, the castles were silver and there was a demi-mullet of six or (a crown?) in the base. suppose that there was a flag to go with it.
The old ceremonial flag (photo, photo, photo; 5 October 1996) was a blue gonfalon with the coat of arms in the centre, the name of the municipality inscribed above, and with three triangulary ending tails each with a golden ornament (only slightly different from the ornament in the current design). This old gonfalon, with obvious wear and tear caused by two decades of use, can be seen used as the pulpit cover (most inappropriate, even with the tails dragging along the floor) (photos, Kanfanarski list, No. 34, January 2013 [PDF], pp. 11 and 34; photo; photo).
