The coat of arms of Sveti Ivan Žabno is in green a golden rifle upright between the oppositely placed silver shell and a silver hoe without a handle. The shell is said to represent St. John the Baptist, who used it at the baptism of Jesus. Hoe and rifle represent the people of this area, who worked on the land in peace, and when needed became defenders (historically: border guards). The green background represents rich nature, loyalty, happiness and hope. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.
Although the official blazon and the description in the decision adopting the solution of the coat of arms describes the tool as a shovel, the artistic solution clearly shows the hoe, and the article with which the symbols are presented and explained on the municipal website speaks about the hoe.
