The municipality of Kloštar Podravski (3,603 inhabitants in 2001, 1,707 in the village of Kloštar Podravski) is located about 30 km south-east of Koprivnica and about 5 km of Đurđevac, down river Drava.

Flag of Kloštar Podravski

The symbols of Kloštar Podravski are prescribed by Decision Odluka o izmjeni Odluke o grbu i zastavi Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 21 March 1996 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 28 March 1996 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Županije Koprivnicko-križevacke, No. 2, superseding the Decision prescribing the former symbols. The Decision changes the previous design, deleting the words "on a white pedestal" and the yellow edge of the coat of arms.
The new symbols are depicted in Grafički izgled grba i zastave Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 21 March 1996 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 2 April 1996 in Službeni glasnik Županije Koprivnicko-križevacke, No. 4. The coat of arms is here edged with some kind of dark edge and its depiction in the flag includes two light (presumably yellow) outlines of that edge in the flag. The flags actually in use, however, include the usual yellow edge around the coat of arms.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 20 September 2001 and published on 5 October 2001 in Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, No. 11. This is repeated in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 13 July 2009 and published on 16 August 2009 in Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, No. 10, and in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 26 March 2013 and published on 29 May 2013 in Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, No. 6 (text).

The symbols were approved by the Ministry of Administration on 18 April 1996, as reported by D. Ernečić.

The symbols were designed by Đuka Domović, after an almost identical original design submitted by Draženka Jalšić Ernečić (Glas Podravine, 26 May 1995).

The flag (photo) is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The coat of arms is a blue shield with a silver representation of the Holy Family's Flight into Egypt with golden stars as halos. It is said in the Statutes that this is the historical coat of arms of Kloštar Podravski, but there is no support for this claim.

The ceremonial flag (photo) is vertical, of dark blue damasticated field, with light blue outwards pointing triangles ("wolf-teeth") along the vertical borders, with the coat of arms in the centre off-set towards the top and a golden three-lined inscription within an outline in the lower part. The flag field is attached to the crossbar with five rectangular golden segments, the outermost two extending all along the vertical edges. Along the bottom are six golden tassels.

The former symbols of Kloštar Podravski are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 19 June 1995 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 27 June 1995 in Službeni glasnik Županije Koprivnicko-križevacke, No. 16. Decision Odluka o izmjeni Odluke o grbu i zastavi Općine Kloštar Podravski, adopted on 13 September 1995 and published on 14 September 1995 in Službeni glasnik Županije Koprivnicko-križevacke, No. 10, amends the penal prescriptions of the original Decision.

The flag is described in Article 10 of the Decision, as follows:

The flag of the Municipality of Kloštar Podravski is blue with the coat of arms in the middle. The height of the coat of arms is 2/3 of the flag's width. The ratio of width to length of the flag is 1:2.

The coat of arms is described in Article 6 of the Decision, as follows:

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Kloštar Podravski is composed of a shield. In a blue field on a white pedestal is set the "Holy Family's Flight into Egypt" group, composed of the Blessed Virgin, sitting on a donkey and carrying Jesus in her arms, and of Joseph leading the donkey with a staff in his hand, all in white (silver), with yellow (golden) stars above their heads.
The coat of arms is edged with yellow (golden) colour.

The public contest fro the design of the symbols was announced in the weekly Virovitićki list (Natjećaj, 17 March 1995).
The selected design is apparently Draženka Jalšić Ernečić's original design, mentioned but not illustrated in her booklet. The main difference with the current design is the inclusion of the pedestal at the base of the statue, while the artwork of the figures is more realistic, with shades. The design reflects more closely the actual statue; which is situated in the centre of the village. The stars here are eight-pointed instead of six-pointed, and somewhat differently distributed.
