image by Dan, 21 January 2026A stock photo by Alamy features
a photograph of the flag of Malpas, a riverside village and former port two
miles south of Truro, Cornwall.
The flag is the Cornish flag (St Piran’s
Cross – a white cross on a black field) defaced by what is probably better
described as a town emblem than a coat of arms (regrettably I'm unable to turn
up another image of this emblem).
The emblem comprises a blue disc
bearing a lifebuoy and a heron. The lifebuoy bears the words 'Malpas Village
Cornwall'. The heron, standing upright, seems to be wearing a sailor's hat(?).
An illustration of the flag appears on Wikipedia - shown above.
