History of Siccardo

The company was founded on 4 January 1848 for inshore navigation, and sold off in 1854.
Siccardo operated a single ship, SS Le Précurseur, built in Marseilles in 1849 and sold to Rampal on 16 August 1854. Rampal was probably even less successful than Siccardo since he sold SS Le Précurseur in Italy in 1858. The name of the ship is fairly ironical, since it can be understood as "trail-blazer".
