The municipality of Val-de-Reuil (13,114 inhabitants in 2018; 2,661 ha) is located 30 km north of Évreux.

The establishment of the new town of Le Vaudreuil was initiated in June 1972; in December 1972 the urban unit of Le Vaudreuil was formed on the territory of several existing municipalities, Le Vaudreuil included. On 28 September 1981, the urban unit became the municipality of Le Vaudreuil-Ville nouvelle (Le Vaudreuil-New Town), created from parts of the municipality of Incarville, Léry, Porte-Joie, Poses, Saint-Étienne-du-Vauvray, Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray, Tournedos-sur-Seine and Le Vaudreuil. The municipality was renamed Val-de-Reuil on 19 November 1984 to prevent confusion with nearby Le Vaudreuil.
