Presentation of Brieva

The municipality of Brieva (93 inhabitants in 2020 vs. 294 in 1950; 1,370 ha) is located 20 km north of Segovia.

Symbols of Brieva

The flag and arms of Brieva are prescribed by an Agreement issued on 12 February 2021 by the Municipal Council, signed on 21 June 2021 by the Mayor, and published on 2 July 2021 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 127, p. 34,558 (text).
The symbols, which are supported by a memoir written by Antonio Nieto Carnicer and were validated on 11 December 2020 by the Chronicler of Arms of Castilla y León, are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel in proportions 3/2 (length on width), blue with the municipal coat of arms in the center.
Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1a. Azure the Calvary of the Plaza Mayor [photo] argent, 1b. Or a flax flower proper bottony argent slipped vert, 2. Gules a two-storeyed aqueduct argent masoned sable in base ten rocks argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The second quarter features the Roman aqueduct of Segovia, recalling that Brieva once belonged to the Community of the Town and Land of Segovia.
