The coat of arms was adopted by the Ayuntamiento on 14.10.1987, but there is no information for the flag date.
Description: A green shield, bearing in a divided escutcheon, first, silver, a rampant red lion and second, silver, two green batons placed diagonally, the escutcheon surmounted by a silver tower, masoned and opened black, and flanked by two keep towers of the same metal. The crest is a closed royal crown.
The coat of arms also features a ribbon with the inscription "Sub tuum praesidium confugimus Sancta Dei Genitrix" ("Under your protection we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God")
Meaning: Except for the ribbon and the crown, this is the coat of arms of Hernando de Zafra, secretary and accountant of the Catholic Monarchs, to whom they granted the castle of Castril and its domains.
