Symbols of Beas de Guadix

The symbols were approved by the General Secretariat of Local Administration on 20.05.2025.

  • Coat of arms:

Description: "The municipal coat of arms of Beas de Guadix is of modern French design, with banner proportions and lower corners rounded with a quarter circle. The point of the shield is formed by the union of two quarter circles of the same proportion. Its ratio is 4:5 (length to width)."
The shield consists of a green field with no divisions. In the center of this field is depicted the figure of a caveman with a torch in his left hand, all in green, emerging from the interior of a gold-colored cave.
In the sinister chief canton (or upper left third, as viewed from the shield) are the figures of a sundial and above it a toothed ring representing the sun. The sundial is symbolized by a gnomon that casts its shadow on the dial, a semicircular base marked with the hours of the day. Both the sundial and the ring are gold in color to stand out against the monochrome field of the shield.
In the center of the point of the shield (or lower third) is a split and leafed pomegranate of gules (red), accompanied on the right and left by a wave of azure (blue).
The heraldic crest is a gold count's coronet. Its border is made of precious metal, decorated with gemstones, and has eighteen points, crafted from the same metal as the base and finished at their tips with pearls.
The border and the motto with the name of the municipality (Outfit Regular typeface, capital letters) are gold, represented by yellow.

Characteristics of enamels:
The enamels that make up the heraldic shield of Beas de Guadix are:

  • Gold metal (Pantone 7408C) used for the border, crest and motto.
  • Color of vert (Pantone green 7730C) for the field of the shield.
  • Gold color (Pantone 7403C) for the sun figures, sundial and cave interior.
  • Gules color (Pantone red 7583C) for the pomegranate.
  • Azure color (Pantone blue 564C) for the waves.

Meaning: The shield refers to the custom of living in caves, which is currently commemorated in the Troglodyte Museum.

  • Flag:

Description: "Rectangular cloth flag, with proportions 16:9 (length to width). It is divided by three horizontal stripes. The white stripe, and the lower one, green, are of similar width and larger (3:7) compared to the middle stripe (1:7), which is red. The municipal coat of arms is superimposed in the center of the cloth."

Characteristics of enamels:
The enamels that make up the flag of Beas de Guadix are:

  • White color (Pantone White) for the top stripe.
