Flag of Montánchez

The flag of Montánchez (photos), adopted on 24 January 2002 by the Municipal Council and validated on 21 March 2003 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, is prescribed by an Order issued on 1 April 2003 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 15 April 2003 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 45, pp. 5,810-5,811 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, in proportions 2:3. Vertically divided, green at hoist and yellow at fly. Charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms, whose height shall be 3/5 of the flag's width.

The coat of arms of Montánchez is prescribed by Royal Decree No. 2,800, signed on 27 0ctober 1978 and published on 2 December 1978 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 288, p. 27,362 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Or a mulberry vert fructed purpure, 2. Vert a castle or masoned sable. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History validated the proposed coat of arms, which is based on "indubitable historical antecedents".
