Overview

Unidad Educativa Particular Antonio Neumane was established on 1 May 1966 by Julio Andrade, Marco Cepeda, Mario Pazmiño and Guido Rodríguez, former teachers at Colegio La Salle in Quito.

The school's namesake is the composer, pianist and orchestra director Antonio Neumane (1818-1871). Borne from German parents, Neumane settled in Guayaquil in 1841. He composed the national anthem of Ecuador, directing its first public performance on 10 August 1870 in Quito. Most of his works were lost during the Great Fire of Guayaquil (1896).
