Introduction of Jungdeutschland-Bund

Jungdeutschland-Bund (lit. Young-Germany-Federation) was created by decree of the Prussian government, mainly caused by the ministry of war. The first chairman was field-marshal Colmar Freiherr (= baron) von der Goltz. The target was, to embed elements of a pre-military education into the public juvenile education. Before WW1 35 organizations with altogether 680,000 members joined the federation, among those the German Scouts Federation (Pfadfinderbund), hiking-, athletics- and sports clubs. Another 62,000 members belonged to direct branch organizations within the federation.
After WW1 the federation was to be deleted. Since 1921 there had been attempts, to involve also the labourers' youth. But plans failed in 1923 and the federation declined and many members left the organization.
During the following years the federation changed from a civic middle-class organization to a more and more rightist federation. The youth organizations of DVP, DNVP and finally NSDAP became members of the federation. In 1933 the federation was de jure dissolved and incorporated into Deutsches Jugendwerk, the NS-youth-organization.

The status of both clubs mentioned below within the federation is not quite evident. It seems however that "Sparta" was a sports club and member, whilst "Jungdeutschland" was a branch organization of the federation, especially, as its chairman Baron von der Goltz was also honorary president of Jungdeutschland-Bund.
