Originally the local symbol had been an initial "K" in 1686. The village mayor's seal from the end of the19th century displayed a grapevine with two additional branches, later on also in coloured stamp prints. The beehive (German: Bienenkorb) was added as a punning symbol and a distinguishing mark.
