Wessobrunn Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a capital Argent, in base two keys in saltire of the same.
Meaning:
The crossed keys are taken from the arms of theBenedictine Wessobrunn Monastery and are attributes of St. Peter, its patron saint. The tinctures are counterchanged on the arms of the monastery. The capital is alluding to the famous craftsmen of the so called Wessobrunn School, especially painters, bricklayers and plasterers. Members of the school brought to being numerous masterpieces of Baroque and Rococo architecture all over southern Germany and thus made Wessobrunn famous.
