Sankt Wendel County Coat of Arms

The shield is parted per fess into silver (= white) over blue. The main charge is a rampant lion, armed and tongued red in counterchanged colours. On his breast is a golden (= yellow) inescutcheon displaying a red fleur de lis.
Meaning:
The present county of Sankt Wendel has a very complicated history. The county was divided into many small parts, each of these parts belonged to a different territory. Therefore only the arms of the main territories are combined in the county arms. A blue lion was in the arms of the Counts of Veldenz, a silver lion in the arms of Nassau-Saarbrücken. The colours red and gold in the inescutcheon are taken from the arms of Lothringen. The fleur de lis is taken from the arms of the city of Sankt Wendel and is alluding to the county's name.

Flag and coat of arms were approved on 25 February 1965.
