It is a red - yellow - red vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is shifted to the top.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a red field is a golden(=yellow) imperial globe superimposed by a capital "M" of the same colour.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are derived from the seal of the imperial immunity of emperor Arnulf, who established a chapter-house in Metelen in 889.
