Description of flag:
The ratio is 3:5. It is an armorial flag.

Scharbeutz Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
It is a red - silver (=white) gyronny shield having 16 girons. In the centre is a golden (= yellow) inescutcheon displaying a blue bear's head tongued red.
Meaning:
In 1974 the municipalities of Gleschendorf and Haffkrug-Scharbeutz merged. The new municipality overtook the former arms of Gleschendorf. The inescutcheon is taken from the arms of the local von Buchwaldt family. The 16 girons are symbolizing the manifold of former independent municipalities. The colours red and white are symbolizing Holstein.

The flag was approved on 11 July 1984. The coat of arms was approved on 12 November 1974. The artist is Wilhelm Horst Lippert from Brunsbüttel.
