It is a red - white - red vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1.The coat of arms is shifted to the top.

Description of coat of arms:
In a red field is a torso of St.John the Baptist, bearded black, nimbed golden(=yellow), dressed in a fur in natural colour and a white piece of cloth around his hips. He holds a golden(=yellow) book in his right hand, on which is sitting the golden(=yellow) Paschal Lamb. In his left hand he holds a stick of the same colour topped by a cross. Upon the middle base point is a silver(=white) inescutcheon divided by a black cross.
Meaning:
According to source St.John the Baptist was the local patron saint. The inescutcheon is symbolizing the archbishopric and electorate of Köln.

The banner was approved by Regierungspräsident Arnsberg on 11 June 1970, the coat of arms on 6 April 1970.
