Eilenburg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a castle Or, with port and windows Sable and roofs Gules, the open gate flanked by two embattled towers Or with cone roofs Gules, between both three facetted 6-point stars Argent ordered 1:2.
Meaning:
Eilenburg was acquired by the Wettin kin in 999 and sold to the Margraviate of Brandenburg in 1291 together with the Margraviate of Landsberg. It became a fiefdom of the Kingdom of Böhmen (Bohemia) in 1364 and was finally bought by the Wettin kin in 1402. As part of the Electorate of Sachsen it belonged to the Ernestine branch in 1485, to the Albertine branch in 1547. In 1815 it became a part of Preußen (Prussia). The arms are based on the first city seal from 1294. Castle and towers are symbolising the status of a city, the stars are taken from the arms of the Lords of Eilenburg, the local rulers.
